Yamaha's first scooter for India is the Ray,

launched in Hyderabad today. The scooter was first displayed at the January Auto Expo in the nation’s capital. The Ray’s youthful styling has sharp lines and a front apron that bears resemblance to the Honda Dio. The stylish and compact looking Ray is a light, 113cc scooter, sure to be well suited to urban Indian commuting duties within city limits.

The Ray comes with a low seat height for ease of use by its target audience, young ladies under 24 years old, and further provides the convenience of easy to use main and side stands.

The Ray uses a scooter typical 4-stroke, air-cooled and CVT, automatic transmission engine.

Top drawer telescopic fork front suspension is standard and the latest Yamaha comes to India

affordably priced at Rs 46,000 (ex-showroom, Delhi).

Yamaha is offering their new scooter in Pink, Purple, Blue, Burgundy, Grey and Black. Watch this space. (AUTOCAR INDIA)

I was just amazed by the attention to detail on this gorgeous scooter.

-See the brake levers popping out of the neatly laid out oval window at the ends of the handlebar cowl.

-How neatly the side stand is integrated into the base fibre panels.

-How neatly the foot pegs for the pillion are placed.

-Attention to detail near the rear grab rail is simply outstanding.

-Not a single body panel at any corner seems to be left unfinished, that's what Yamaha globally is famous for actually, except of the Performance rich products.

-Last but not the least: Yamaha has pink bottle Yamalube - RayTonic! Also - free pick

Up and drop for service within 5kms and even service at location! Unique!(An excerpt from Kartikeya Singhee tweet at Yamaha ray launch)

That definitely is a very good looking scooter and the pricing is also on par with the segment. Hope Yamaha backs it up with good power and service/reliability to ensure they really get a hold of the segment, which is a new one for them.
