Tata Safari Storme launched

Recommended Posts

After ages of speculation, Tata Motors is finally launching the Safari Storme on the 17th of October 2012. The wait for the new Safari has been really long and competition has moved on. The Storme will have a task on its hands for sure. Renault has hit the jackpot with the Duster and Mahindra has achieved huge success with the XUV 500.

Do you think the Storme will be able to fight these two rivals and make a mark for itself? Or is it a bit too late to join the party. Also what do you think should be the ideal pricing for the Storme.

Opinions?

However much Tata Motors may try, the prospective SUV buyers will

not be very enthusiastic with this car, for the simple reason that they

are used to seeing this huge car for a very long time. And, by spending

about 10 to 15 Lakhs, they will not get anything `radically new'. So,

convincing the buyers and selling the new car is going to be much more

difficult now than ever. But, Tatas are known for giving VFM products.

Let us wait for the pricing.

we have all seen what it looks like , a sure dud , no radical changes like what we saw with the xuv after seeing the scorpio for years

duster is a pleasant change and the ecosport is the most awaited car , my next for sure ,

dont know what good it serves launching a similar looking model of the safari and rendering a fancy name,it would have served them better had they launched a stripped down model of Aria.

my personal opinion

The Storme is going to be a game changer for TATA. While many think that its the same old Safari, actually the car is 80% new. Its based on a totally new platform, Chassis and gearbox and has been tweaked and refined by JLR engineers. People who have seen it say that the fit and finish is something never before seen on an Indian made car. The only thing is the pricing. If TATA price it between 9.5 L to 13.5 L this sure is a winner. Dont even compare this genuine off-roader SUV with the Duster based on Logan platform. The Duster is nothing but a hatchback on highheels.

I partly agree with you Ramesh, but the thing is that you can't attract your product if it is not packaged well..

Here, First impression matters much and that is where storm fails.

But i feel Storm will pick up sales in long run though..

I would say, STORM will give a decent upward shift in TATA motor's sales chart as we all know how rough-tough safari is. People in suburbs and rural areas still like to own it. And since, it is known that XUV owner tend to face some glitches in the initial period of ownership...who knows - may be TATA have learnt from this and now launching a better product and a far lower price.

Btw....a funny remark...Oct 17 is my Birthday...so it has be a hit :P:lol::D

Safari is having a niche following of its own.

Safari is known for its dirt bashing character & XUV or Duster or else in its price segment can never match such acts.

This new-gen TATA Safari will definitely carve a space for her in SUV territory.

Tata safari is dud....technically and quality of the product is far below the expectation, high maintenance toy, with no resale value... cluth goes first than ... series of events finally you give away on dirt cheap price.

Its a step backwards for Tata on this & Maahindra has them beat hollow. Such designs & shapes are now from a bygone era, why is Tata clinging to the past with such affinity!

Duster & XUV have written a new chapter in Indian Automotive history, Storme doesn't stand a chance to even leave a mark. A swash-buckling price could be the only aving grace but so much of heavy metal going into this, how low can the price go!

A photo speaks a 1000 words & so has the above pic. depicted what Storme stands for now. Guess you all get the drift...

In general public view, this car may seems t be a dud, but think of its target audience.

For the Goanywhere world, there is no SUV south of 20L

For Safari loyalist, the handling is much sorted out.

For politician, NO OTHER CHOICE, since this is the only brawny & made in India.

So, IMHO, this may not be such a flop as you all discuss.

Safari has a lot going for it, like overall roominess, centre SOFA,....

Tata never let their any vehicle die out on the road.

They are know for pumping up life into their vehicle regularly.

SO expecting same with Storm, they will come out with something which will save Storm.

Withou such supporting move, Storm will be supressed by competition.

Only time will tell

We love the Tata cars more than JLR engineers , The only problem with them is They can't hear to customers issues or feedbacks if only they can ? This safari could have been a great breadwinner for tata , it should have lost weight by at least 150-200kgs .Its been on road for a decade and could be made a bread winner by now. ..?..??

Safari is known for its sofa like middle row seats and its Handsome looks. Road presence and ride comfort is too good compare to its competitors. Other side the steering and gear box refinement is not good as its competitors and even it required more maintenance. If Tata can tackle all these three problems definitely it can become leader of its segment.

At present it Safari storme may not break into 2000 barrier and it will give sales figure of Min 500 and maximum 2000.

We cannot ignore the Safari fan following in India.

Storm is something different and not to be compared with XUV or Duster. Both are features driven, but Storm will be driven with its elegant looks, huge space, its refined engine and a very rich quality of paint and looks. If you see one in real, then you will change your opinion like me. In my opinion it is just 2 days left for the Storm launch and pricing will be the key and my sense says it will be a hit in the market, let us see

Have heard that Tata is going to continue with the current Safari in base Lx and Ex trims.

Gx and Vx variants are going to give way to Safari Storme.

If this is true then Safari Storme is going to start at above 10 lacs which is not a smart move IMO.

Let's see how things turn out today.

Heres some more insight into another failed product from Tata.

An article on Motorbash , sourced from Moneycontrol puts that the Storme was originally slated to be launched in 2007, shocking news by all means, read more there.

Would have made sense had they launched some cheaper/cut price variants. Or better just replaced the old Safari with cheaper variants of this.

A complete downer as far as Im concerned.

Why havn't they stopped selling the Dicor? Tata has too many varients , colours , engine option across the range and this confuses the customer as well as the dealers. The Vista has 5 engine options 1.2 and 1.4 P , TDI Quadrajet and 90hp quadrajet with 4 varient to choose them from and also 8 different colours. You can have more than 100 different option people can choose in the Vista alone , on top of that they launch silly LTD edition every 2 months.

They should have a 4x4 Storm in lower varients I know people who like safari but will buy only 4x4 but VX has many gadgets and people are reserved about TATA and M&M electronics . (the 4x4 transfer box has wire dangling down in the 4x4 model which can be easily cut).
