Mahindra Maximo-EV & Gio based 6 seater electric Rikshaw caught testing (Uncamouflaged)

Recommended Posts

Reader from Indian Autos Blog, Mr. S.R.Vishnuvardhan has spotted the fully electric Mahindra Maxximo Minivan being tested in Bangalore.

The test mule was painted in green and the rear carries a bold ‘Electric’ monicker. The test mule also had alloy wheels suggesting that it may be used for a public display anytime soon.

The badge reads ‘Maxximo powered by Reva’. This can only mean that the Minivan was engineered by Mahindra-Reva in Bengaluru.

The specifications of the electric powertrain is not yet to be revealed. There is no change in the styling of the vehicle and the only visual change is the missing tailpipe.

Mahindra had showcased the electric version of Maxximo load carrier at the 2010 Delhi Auto Expo and the Varito EV was brought to the 2012 New Delhi Auto Expo and .These vehicles, except for the Maxximo load carrier, were powered by Reva’s hardware.

Next Story is about Gio based 6 seater electric Rikshaw! Indian autos blog officials have managed to grab some pics of it & also tried their hands on it & surprisingly they were pretty impressed with it! According to them it comfortably manages 50 Kmph!

Reva’s products having clocked more number of electric miles on road than any other electric car manufacturer in the world and their experience in electric powertrains is sure to give Mahindra a clear advantage in zero emission technologies.

Sources tell IndianAutosBlog.com that Mahindra is reportedly working on the hybrid version of the XUV500 which will be benefited by the Reva’s know-how of electric motors.

However, whether India is ready to embrace the electric propulsion technology is yet to be seen.

According to sources, XUV500 EV is also in the workshop & may hit the street within next 2 yearsMahindra-Maxximo-Minivan-EV-3.jpg

Good work by M&M. Product looks good and better than an 3w-auto.

The way they are growing and contributing to the market is something

everyone should be proud of.

We are eagerly awaiting Reva range of products from them.

These products popped out as a surprise.

But it seems that Mahindra took full advantage of owning Reva and counting big on commercial electric vehicles.

Practicality and acceptance of these electric vehicle is still in question though.

Because we know a vehicle meant to be 3 seater (Piaggio Ape) usually carries 9-10 passaenger, so under such conditions an electric vehicle may not endure well.

Let see, Mahindra has great experience of all that.

I like the practical apporach of Mr. Anand Mahndra.
