Laptop & Tablet suggestions

Its that time of the year when Im looking for a Laptop & a Tablet. Coming to the Laptop/ultrabook first, I already have an HP DV5 laptop(15"). What I basically require is:

  • Slim, sleek, light weight, does not heat up.
  • 13 - 14" Screen
  • Full HD screen (optional)
  • Backlit keyboard
  • dedicated graphics 1-2GB
  • SSD (variable 32-128GB)

Well this is what is coming to mind right now, I will add up as I remember. These are not hard & fast requirements but more out them, the better it is.

Now for the Tablet part, this is where its a bit tricky because I already have an iPad3 4G & Lenovo Ideapad K1. These are great tabs in their own right but somehow do not make the cut for me.

Actually I quite like the concept of Samsung Galaxy NoteII. Its a Phablet, I know but want to know whether it can do what a regular 7-10" tab can & is this the right time to buy one or wait for prices to stabilize?

All you need is an Ultrabook. Just check HP Envy ultrabook series(costs around 50-55k). The build quality and the beats audio is really superb, and offering 7 to 8 hrs battery backup. Visit a nearby HP showroom and experience it.

HP is offering lots of schemes these days and accidental protection also. Apart from all HP has the best service network.

Apple MacBook Air is best if you can afford.

I think you should wait until end of november, as windows 8 & hybrid pcs such as microsoft surface, lenovo yoga & similar offerings from HP & dell will be making their debut! You can use this products as Laptop & Tablet both & to create buzz they will be also offered with various system configurations! & one thing is for sure, that no one offers better computing or surfing experiece than Windows!

What you need is a Mac Book Air

Yes Im seriously considering this one. Could you suggest a model in 13.3" series. I would do fine with entry level.

ASUS PADFONE 2

ASUS Pad phone was launched in India couple of days back. I would not be spending so much on this device as have had bitter experiences selling off such stuff in 2nd hand market. Sold a couple of expensive tabs. at ~1/4th the price.

Checked this one out. Are you talking of "Spectre" model or 'Envy 4"? Spectre is a bit expensive but great.

These should be exciting & probably suit my needs. Will have to see these, usually I avoid 1st gen. products, there could be development issues.

One thing is for sure, Im not settling for the regular laptop. They are fat, heavy & heat up fast. Most cannot be used on the "laps".

Haven't owned Macbooks earlier but experienced them, felt good. Have heard that parts for these devices are very expensive.

BTW, any issues with the Macbooks...that owners have experienced?

Saw a coupl eof laptops in the market today. Sony Vaio T31126CN/S seemed to be a good model because its got capacitive TS + keyboard, 128SSD & Win 8.

While Lenovo SS300 is at the lower end of the spectrum, costs ~30k. I won't mind such a model with OS.

Sony Vaio T series is another good option but I could not find this model (T31126CN/S) on net.

Capacitive Touch Screen + Win8 will be a great fun to use as Win 8 is meant for touch devices.

Consider buying Sony or HP or Apple only. HP ultra-books are little bit outdated as compared to Sony now and so they have lots of offers/schemes and accidental warranty too.

Note: In ultra-books you may not find DVD drive and sometimes battery is inside the casing.

The model is new in the market, will find a working link.

Yes TS+Win8 could be good.

I've shortlisted HP, Sony & Apple as preffered brands.

I hardly use Optical drives but battery not accessible from outside could be an issue.

Now checking out...

But can Micromax, Carbon be equated to Samsung?

Yes, my family has used 3 Micromax cellphones & all of them were extremely good & well-built & many of my friends have funbook & all of them are very satisfied with it! Remember Micromax & Karbonn are indian manufacturers, their products comes with warrenty, they do have service centers; unlike chinese manufacturers which you are considering them to be!

Actually, Infinity is the best one, as it has biggest battery & processer! But It doesn't call feature! All of the models do support USB memory as well as device support ( for 3g stick & specific external keybord)!

another option is Karbonn, they do offer nice tablets at affordable price!(http://www.karbonnmobiles.com/products_tablet.php)

If you have any android/blackberry/Windows 7 phone or have wifi at home & work-place, then Blackberry playbook can also be a very VFM deal! It has super-smooth UI, huge multi-tasking abilities & acess to blackberry app world which now has accsess Apple's app store! It also has micro-usb port (Micro-usb to usb connector is available), but it doesn't have 3g support! You can makeup this problem with having a pocket 3g-wifi router! & this combo will coast you <15k! though very less no. of people will go for this option, but it'll offer you the best products @ best price!
