Honda has given a teaser of it upcoming Brio based sedan (Black car) . This car is said to hit the Indian market in 2013 and will be powered by a 1.5 litre diesel engine. It is also said that it will be a sub 4 meter sedan which will give it excise benefits.

Honda seems to have a winner on its hands and this has everything to become the king of its segment. And atlast from the teaser pic it seems to be a decent looker as well

Question is is this car the ace up Honda's sleeve which can turn out to be a Dzire , Verito and Indigo CS killer?

With a right price I feel so

Anything from Honda is worth waiting for. More so, if it is an automobile. Be it a car

or a mobike or a scooter, Honda always sets new benchmarks and people love them.

No exception to this rule, in this case too.

This Brio Sedan can be a good car. People would admire it.

But, it can not be called a killer product as Honda products are always at a premium.

Thus, it can never be a D-Zire/Verito/IndigoCS killer as Honda's products are not

mass products. They always target niche markets and niche customer base.

However, this car is going to be a benchmark product in our market.

So, the others will try to scale up their product's specifications.

That is a welcome effect for all sedan buyers, more so the entry level sedan buyers.

If Honda launch Brio Sedan with diesel it will be a segment leader and killer of most of CS Sedans.

With only petrol option Brio Sedan will help the consumers to get access and experience to Honda Brand which was not possible before launch of Brio.

There is a change in strategy of Honda. Instead of making hurry to launch diesel CR-V Honda is concentrating to be more accessible and once they start burning sales chart they will launch premium products (such as Accord, CR-V and Civic) with Diesel options so that Honda will have best line-up of products in every segment and price bracket.

Great Going Honda Team. Best of Luck......

Mejority of this segment's sale is contributed by middle-class families & fleet operators who can't afford Honda's expensive ASS!

Look guys,

If we are arguing on Price, then we should understand some points clearly.

Brio sedan would seat surely below City and above Brio hatch.

It leaves a price bracket of say 5.5-8.5 lakhs.

Then another fact is that its a Compact Sedan, which can be priced much competetively.

Thus we can expect Brio sedan to come at attractive proposition.

Also its absolutly worth to pay 20-30K more for a Honda

So ithink Brio sedan will shake the market bottoms up.

This car sure is going to shake the market *condition apply

But not as specified in the title. This car won't touch Indigo CS or Logan CS market as those are targeted for space conscious customers & fleet owners.

This car will fight DZire, Polo, Swift, Pulse and its own Jazz and could kill Fabia & Punto.

* Will kill market or make its presence felt only when priced sensibly and the new Diesel engine is good.

Atleast Honda is now making itself accessible to customers who aspired to own a "Brand New Honda Car" since they started their operations in India.

With recent launch by other Automobile manufacturers (Domestic & International) and it's subsequent success (read XUV, Duster , Etios & Liva , etc...) it is now sure for Honda that Indian consumer have become matured enough to spend their hard-earned money on right product.

This is a great work done by HONDA. I liked the boot design but some how it reflects a shade of Dzire. Lets wait untill final launch.

Price wise, I think its base would be the most expensive sub 4 metre sedan in contrast to base variant of Dzire/IndigoCS at least for now. Verito CS is still behind the scene as yet.

Agree that it will not probably compete with he Likes of Indgo CS or Verito but i expect Honda to keep the pricing marginally higher than Dezire. All said and done, it will be a benchmark product and will increase Honda's market share as it will find numerous takers.

I think in chasing large Volumes Honda should not compramise anywhere.

Not even though if it costs more than competition.

So it should not even think of falling in Indigo or Verito's territory.

Anyone will pay premium amount to upgrade to Honda's quality.

So they should target increase in volumes with respect to current volumes of themselves and not that of Maruti's or Tata's.

And i think Honda is also thinking same way. After-all quality and refinement are the characters of true Honda cars.

New Honda Brio sedan specs revealed

Published: 30/10/2012 at 06:27 PM

Online news: Auto Scoop

Budget saloon will have a longer body to ensure optimum levels of rear occupant comfort.

Honda's four-door version of the Brio will have a longer body than today's five-door variant to ensure optimum levels of rear occupant comfort.

At a media briefing yesterday in Thailand, Honda engineers said the Brio saloon will have a 3,990mm overall length and 2,407mm wheelbase, longer than the hatchback by 380mm and 62mm accordingly. The 1,680mm width and 1,485mm height are identical.

The additional length was made to accommodate larger, cushier rear seats and a boot measuring 420 litres. As the saloon is 26kg heavier than the hatchback, changes to the suspension had to be made including new coil springs.

The three-box Brio gets the same 90hp 1.2-litre four-cylinder petrol engine and CVT automatic transmission, good for a 20.4kpl average fuel economy.

The new Brio derivative will make its world debut in Thailand next month.

I have a feeling this car will be a game changer for Honda when it comes to India. The diesel will be a sellout. And it does look like a proper sedan and not a boot paste job. With the claimed FE the petrol will do well too.

All of those who are claiming it to be big hit are probably wrong, as Honda is always considered as barby dolls in India, ie. too delegate & too costly, which means it's out of consideration of fleet operators & middle class families! & as second car, rich fellows will preffer hot hatches from VW, Ford or even Hyundai or Maruti! This brings to a conclusion that this vehicles is not going to match even ETIOS in sells figures!

which means it's out of consideration of fleet operators & middle class families!

Thats because of lack of diesel. I have seen many Honda City in yellow board, have you ever seen any other Petrol cars in yellow board?

And middle class has started looking at Honda after the Brio's entry.

rich fellows will preffer hot hatches from VW, Ford or even Hyundai or Maruti!

Is there really any hot hatch in Ford or VW? The decade old Figo or 3 potted VW never appeal as a Swift, the Hyundai has a huge list of negatives, that leaves the Amaze, only competitor to Swift family.

This brings to a conclusion that this vehicles is not going to match even ETIOS in sells figures!

No way. This car will drag all private car users right from Swift, DZire, i20, Polo, Fabia, Sunny, Sail, Old Fiesta, ....

Going by the reviews of 1.6L diesel, this car is going to be a MASSIVE HIT(with proper pricing)

Why should they, when all other have diesel engine option & in Himalaya & other hilly region petrol Maruti Alto, Hyndai Santro, skoda Octavia, Hyundai Accents, Ford Ikon & fiesta classic are performing way better in fleet market compared to city!

Is there really any hot hatch in Ford or VW? The decade old Figo or 3 potted VW never appeal as a Swift, the Hyundai has a huge list of negatives, that leaves the Amaze, only competitor to Swift family.

It's true that figo is ageing & VW polo isn't that much cool; but when it comes to quality both of them are miles ahead of this hyundais & Marutis!

Going by the reviews of 1.6L diesel, this car is going to be a MASSIVE HIT(with proper pricing)

thing which is great on paper doesn't mean that it's going to be hit! In india arround 60% people just goes to Tata & Marutis showroom, asks salesman to show them a car in there budget, bargain a little & buys one! & Indian customer judges the quality of the car from "thud" sound of door, where even Tata is better than Honda! & 20KMPL claimed millege is idiotic, Ford's 1.4 diesel has delivered 26 kmpl with Fiesta Classic & 32 with Ikon & similerly the world record holder Logan (Verito) has delivered 36 KMPL under test conditions!

This is bound to sell in India, Honda + diesel, even if they price it slightly premium to competition.

And if the price is anything close to Dzire (+40k) then it will hit MS badly.

But yes this will be initial euphoria as real picture will come out once Amaze has spent 6 months - 1yr on road.

But with Honda people expect a niggle free, high performance car, which Honda will not mess up big time (they can't afford it anyway..).
