dr_nishu Posted November 10, 2012 Report Share Posted November 10, 2012 VW-owned Scania Commercial Vehicles has launched a range of heavy duty trucks in India yesterday on a trial basis. Scania has been present in the Indian mining sector since 2007 in partnership with L&T. The company has already sold around 800 mining trucks in India. The truck maker established its Indian subsidiary Scania Commercial Vehicles India Pvt. Ltd in 2011 which is headquartered in Bengaluru. The company is planning to set up a plant in India to assemble trucks and buses. Scania has launched four truck models in India – R 500 6×4, the G 460 6×4, the P 410 6×2 and the P 360 4×2. Mr. Henrik Fagrenius, Managing Director, Scania Commercial Vehicles India said, “We believe that Indian truck buyers will have the benefit of an added choice – trucks with outstanding fuel performance and reliability that offer them value for their investment.” Scania Truck range in India The Scania R 500 6×4 is a heavy-duty truck powered by a 500 bhp V8 diesel engine, mated to a Scania Opticruise automatic gearbox. The truck is designed for over dimensional cargo haulage. The Scania G 460 6×4 is also a heavy duty truck powered by a 460 bhp 13-litre engine. It is also equipped with the Scania Opticruise automatic transmission. The Scania P 410 6×2 is a multipurpose truck which has a liftable tag axle designed for long haul transport. The power output stands at 410 bhp. The Scania P 360 4×2 puts out 360 bhp and has air suspension system which is suitable for the transport of fragile cargo.
