A shout out to all ACI Forum members!

I'm Gautam from Mumbai and i've been a car freak ever since I can remember. Honestly, all my friends and family members think I should've gotten into the automobile industry in some form or another instead of cushy staid IT.

We've owned a lot of cars over the years as my dad also loved driving a lot

I've recently sold my 5 yr old Tata Indigo CS @ 87k kms and purchased a used 2007 Honda Civic AT on CNG as my daily driver in and around Mumbai. To me the Civic AT on CNG gives the best of both worlds, economy and comfort as well as finally owning a car i've longed for a loooong time.

The other car used by the family and by me for small errands is a Wagon R which has been with us for ~6yrs.

Since both cars are out of warranty, i'm now scouting out mechanics who can keep everything ship shape without charging a bomb.

I've been a member and moderately active on other forums, but hope to contribute more here as i've been a subscriber of ACI for the last decade and love the mag and its yearly shows - ACI Performance Show and the Speed Runs.

Cheers!

Welcome onboard this forum.

an automatic always excites me , even though most of the speed junkies will almost doze off at the idea of a CNG plus an Automatic.

A CNG Automatic is a new for me , so do share was this your modification or did you get the car in this form from the previous owner., what are you able to squeeze out of this motor (mileage) , is it still juicy to drive or it drags itself out.

You swapped your old car for a similar aged beauty , what has she clocked,Would like to know more so do share what you have for us.

Another scare with an Automatic is the repairs costs and you scouting for a Mechanic ,makes me more curious , do share its most recent maintainance bill totals.

All, thanks for the warm welcome!

@AMG1 - I'll post a review of the car with the searching and buying experience.

@prancinghorse - yes an automatic on CNG is the perfect option if you're clocking high city miles.

@librankur - I was looking for a good Civic AT to convert to CNG, found this one which had already had a BRC kit in it. I've only had it for ~3 weeks and its not seen much running since then due to different priorities, so its mostly been running only in thane, stopping almost as soon as the engine warms up!

Its the same age as my old car but with less than half the kms on it. I'll post a review of it with details.

W.R.T. Automatics, I don't think the maintenance costs are scary. In my book buying a used AT car is likely to give you a better car (engine/gearbox wise) than a similar one with manual gears. Scouting for mechanics is only for some small work (non-mechanical) and minor servicing in the future - major services will be at Hallmark Honda, the local honda dealership.

yes, unsafe if not installed and maintained properly. I had the kit checked before buying the car and after an initial car servicing from Honda, will be getting my local installer to goover it with a fine tooth comb.

BTW, I just realised that both my cars, the civic and the wagon r run on clean alternative fuels - the govt should give tax breaks for such good behaviour :-)

yes, aftermarket anything is dangerous if not installed and maintained properly. I had the kit checked before buying the car and will be getting my local installer to go over it carefully as soon as time permits.

BTW, I just had a happy realization that both my cars - civic and wagon r - run on mainly on alternative, clean fuel! the govt should give tax breaks for such good behaviour :-)
