himanshuagarwal2003 1 Report post Posted December 26, 2012 Hello all, I own a Fiat Linea 2009 model. The only issue i have with the car is the ground clearance. People from bangalore will agree as the speed breakers out here are horrible. Regarding this issue i recently visited the service center, they suggested to change the suspensions as the new ones are a littler longer is what they said.It will increase the ground clearance to 185-190mm is what they claim. It will cost Rs.20000. Any idea about this?? is it worth it? will it work?
CarCrazyASTL 16 Report post Posted December 26, 2012 Wait for your current suspension to give up & then only buy this new once, as 20k is a big amount!
librankur 39 Report post Posted December 26, 2012 Most cars can be raised in a crude manner , simply by increasing the space between the spring that hold up the car . Note : The cars ride could get a bit wobbly if not done correctly. Wont cost over a few hundred rupees.Investing in a new suspension is always a good idea if you are planning to keep the car for a long period of time,if its just the ground clearance that bothers you , give the crude method a try. rssh 59 Report post Posted December 27, 2012 The new Linea's suspension is backward compatible to the older linea's you can go for the new Linea suspension upgrade . Also try to take those big Bangy speedbreaker diagonally .
sibasis_FIAT 5 Report post Posted December 27, 2012 This new suspension upgrade from FIAT for its Linea is highly recommended. It significantly increases the ground clearance and the the spring does that by having 4 more more coils in its housing. When we drive a old Linea, we become more conscious about the roads and considering the little ground clearance we have to be careful at each pothole and hump. Also it is highly necessary to maintain the tyre pressure perfectly, it helps a lot in maintaining the clearance. In Bhubaneswar, Odisha the kit costs 17 000/- (including fitting charges). IMO go for it !
BHP-junkie 2 Report post Posted December 28, 2012 Don;t go for it as- 1. 20k is a huge amount to spend on suspension change and that too if your older ones are working fine.. 2. In-experienced mechanics can get you into a disaster. In high speeds, this suspension rise will give you bumpy and amusement park kind of ride, that's totally uncontrollable at one point of time. 3. If you have decided to go for it, then dont go for tweak and 'jugaad' in the current ones, instead go for new sets with extra coils wrapped around the suspension. (Trust someone with good history of suspension change, even the service guys are not experienced in some centres.)
