Another Boxy hatchback from Maruti

Recommended Posts

The Solio is a typical Japanese hatchback and is quite boxy looking. The lines of the car are straight and clearly this is a car built for practicality rather than style. The interiors are a surprise as they look luxurious and well-appointed. The Solio is loaded with features and gizmos. But the best part of the Solio is the sliding doors. The space on offer is very good despite its compact dimensions. A 50:50 rear split seat also brings in flexibility.

Under the hood you will find a 1.2 litre K-Series engine and this compact car will do some pretty good numbers. The engine makes 91 bhp and the performance is good as the car is pretty light. The handling and ride would be good as well. But thanks to the compact size parking would be a breeze with the Solio as would be negotiating city traffic.

The Solio is bigger than its predecessor and is luxurious and powerful. The Wagon R of today hinges more on practicality but the Solio has more style despite being boxy and with innovative features like sliding doors it surely will catch the fancy of the Indian buyer.

Why would they bring in a vehicle similar to the the WagaonR

They might as well offer these cosmetics on the existing WagonR and if people start to lap it, then they can introduce a longer wheel base (actual product)

Too boxy by todays standards , straight away reminds me of the Tata Venture which is more crude.

The AT option is a welcome

To me it looks like a Wagon R crossed with an Ertiga.

If Maruti lengenthens the wheelbase of the current wagonR and gives a similar sliding door setup with a third row seat, it could well be Maruti's first sub-4M MPV for India!

But yes, then who will buy the Eeco?

Too boxy for a car in India, but who knows with this AT transy and dashboard like this, people may actually love it..

Maruti, Nissan, TATA are bending towards this segment by introducing Evalia, venture like cars and more recently the Eeco.

Their sales are not up to mark and with the intro of this Solio, I seriously doubt about the sales and competition for this car

I think it may never come to India as if it comes then it will kill wagonR. However, there is chance to see some interior changes are being added to wagonR from Solio....specially the dash design with AT.
