Honda launches Dream Neo: A Splendor rival

Recommended Posts

Honda Motorcycle and Scooter India has taken the wraps off its latest commuter motorcycle called the Dream Neo. This new model will slot in under the Dream Yuga in Honda’s burgeoning commuter bike line-up that also includes the upmarket CB Twister.

Honda has clearly played it safe with styling with a simple bikini fairing to shroud the angular headlamp. The simplistic instrument cluster includes a speedometer and a large fuel level readout presented in an easy-to-read layout.

The Dream Neo uses the same carburettor-fed, four stroke, single-cylinder, 109cc engine that does duty on the Twister and the Dream Yuga. This engine comes allied to a four-speed gearbox with shifts in an all-down pattern. Peak power is 8.25bhp at 7500rpm while torque is at 0.85kgm at 5500rpm. However, typical buyers willl be more interested in the fuel economy which at a claimed 74kpl, making this the most fuel efficient Honda bike on sale in India.

Interestingly, the base variant (kick, spoke) comes with MRF tuff-up tubes while the middle (kick, alloy) and top-spec versions (electric start, alloy) come with MRF tubeless tyres.

Prices for the Dream Neo start at Rs 43,150 (ex-showroom, Delhi) which puts it at par with the Hero Passion pro, Suzuki Hayate and TVS Star City.

How this is different from Drem Yuga?

Commuter-ish styled CB Twister = Honda Dream Yuga, at almost same price.

Dream Yuga undergone Cost cutting scalpel + some more commuter styling & added bits = Honda Dream Neo at(even low price than DY)

See the Non-cohesive styling of its body panels, Minimalistic body curves & other basic not so expensive body bits = Birth of Honda Dream Neo.

I would say, this bike is going to confuse buyers. Why this needs a new name when this could very well be a Variant in Dream Yuga?

Already, the Dream Yuga shove off the sheen in Shine, now a cheap 110cc looking just the same as 125cc Premium bike, now who would buy a Shine?

Its just an attempt to increase the segment base, whether confusing or not, it'll definitely give more volumes to Honda & that's what Honda needs for being on to the top.

For those who wants a new bike, its a Dream Neo & for those who wants cheaper Dream Yuga, its a cheaper variant called Neo.

Sounds very much like Splendor--> Super Splendor--> Splendor NXG.

As a multi-fold attack, might be in near future Honda might introduce DY's 125cc variant & name it as Dream Shine125 & ditch CB Shine name tag.

O.T: Since honda is on a mission to take its share from Hero motocorp, then why not to revive a CBZ brand again to get a foothold back in 150cc segment, since Honda is already

having the rights of the name & design.
