arvipat 0 Report post Posted April 17, 2013 could you advise at what rpm should the gear ideally be shifted up or down, respectively, for maximizing fuel efficiency and minimize clutch wear
F30 101 Report post Posted April 17, 2013 Anything < 25% of the powerband should be ideal .... but there is no definite set benchmark for the same as it may vary. Which vehicle are you talking about ?
sibasis_FIAT 5 Report post Posted April 25, 2013 I drive a Fiat Palio 1.1 slx, and i have found that changing gears just above 2000 rpm is ideal for both clutch plates and great at fuel efficiency. I prefer to not be much hard on accelerator rather sticking to the same throttle and allowing the engine to rev gradually. This avoids engine vibrations and rattles due to improper gear shift. In diesel engines, shifting gears just above 1500 rpm is said to be ideal. I have applied the same concept in Fiat Punto MJD and Fiat Linea.
