BonFre
Diesel assault, Maruti must be having sleepless nights & ruing the fact that its still not been able to manufacture a diesel engine of their own! While I'll be a little wary of a 3Cyl. motor by Hyundai, going by the track record initial Accents set.

sachins
There still seems to be some confusion regarding Asta variant. Hyundai lists D/P airbags and ABS as optional in Asta variant, so there should be 2 different prices for this variant. However, hyundai website lists only single Asta variant (price difference only due to solid/metallic colour). So i guess these features are standard on Asta then? rssh
Even if the Mumbai ex-showroom price for Asta D is 6.5 then the on road price is 7.3lakhs which just about makes it a good deal.

KarthickB
I just visited the Auto Expo at the Chennai Trade Center today and I managed to see a lot of cars and even sit in them. An orange Grand i10 took centre stage at the Hyundai stall and it certainly grabbed a lot of eyeballs. Thank god the crowd was less and I had plenty of time to spend with the Grand i10. The first think which strikes me was how mature the looks of the car is. It will be loved by everyone. Also the paint and overall fit and finish were excellent. The boot was spacious and will be appreciated by many buyers. Next, I sat in the driver seat and it was comfortable. The overall quality and design of the interiors is amazing and really impressed me. The clutch was light and the gearbox seemed snappy too. The back seat was good too, but not i20 spacious. The rear bench can has decent under thigh support. The rising beltline may not go with few people. But it is overall very good. Since it was an expo, we could not drive it, but judging by ACI review, it is an excellent car to drive. The Grand i10 sure is very 'Grand'. It has mature exterior styling, quality interiors, good space inside, better ride and handling and also the very tractable diesel engine. The only thing I feel is that the top end does not have ABS and Airbags as standard and is optional. But the representative there said, the cost of optional ABS and airbags will be affordable. The pricing is good though. Rivals: Ford Figo, Maruti Ritz and Chevrolet Beat
librankur
Last week there was news that Hyundai are very excited about the response from the GRANDs launch Then there was news that this has prompted them to increase production and may be launch an Automatic shortly. Today, Motorbash is reporting of spotting a possible test mule of an Automatic variant. News ever seems to dry up in this ever expanding segment. rssh
If its the same old Santro/i10 AT they are testing then I don't think anyone should get excited about . Hyundai should launch more modern ATs which don't sap the energy and economy (not a DSG equivalent) and at the same time is not excessively expensive. sachins
There are rumours of Hyundai launching diesel AT version of Grand i10. More news from below link: http://www.carwale.com/news/11429-hyundai-grand-i10-diesel-automatic-to-be-launched-soon.html This will be a very welcome move from Hyundai and will give them head start advantage over others as there are no diesel AT hatchbacks in market today. However, it would be very surprising to me if Hyundai actually goes ahead with it as more premium i20 still doesn't have a diesel AT. So apart from raking up sales from competition, they will cannibalize sales of i20. Also, it will interesting to see if Hyundai offers diesel AT in other lower trims like Magna etc apart from top end Asta.
LeoRahi
In an interesting upswing of events, BS Motoring claims that Hyundai is all set to launch an automatic version of its Grand i10 hatchback but the revelation is that it will be a diesel! Many people have been looking for diesel automatic versions of small hatchbacks over the years, for the perfect commuting sense it makes in the urban areas. However, manufacturers have just been lazy eared and we do not have a single automatic diesel hatchback in the country…Blames are on: 1.The high final price of the product 2.Power Delivery and Efficiency issues with small engines equipped with automatics Hyundai had already indicated during its launch that Grand i10 Automatic will soon make its way to our shores within a few months, but we never got the hint that it may be a diesel, until now! BS Motoring has stated that Hyundai is about to usher in a Diesel variant of the Grand i10 equipped with an Automatic gearbox. They have claimed that several senior executives of the company have nodded in an affirmative, and the Diesel variant with an Automatic gearbox could come to our market as soon as end-November or early-December. This diesel automatic version of the Grand i10 will be the cheapest such model in the country, priced in the region of 7 lakhs to 9 lakhs INR. It will have a couple of “Firsts” to its name : •First Diesel Automatic in the country under 10 lakhs & hence the cheapest diesel automatic car you can buy in India! •First Diesel Automatic in the hatchback segment BS Motoring also suggests that the engine on this upcoming model will be the same 1.1 litre, 3-Cylinder U2 CRDi engine putting out 69 bhp of maximum power and 160 Nm of peak torque. The 4-Speed automatic gearbox isn’t brand new either, having seen grinding action on the Santro and the previous-Gen i10. It also continues to be used on the Verna as well as the i20. It is being said that though a few tweaks will be done to the gearbox, it will by and far remain the same. librankur
Yes, it would be EPIC. Strangely, if it takes too long the whole fun would be lost considering that diesel is also in the process of getting completely deregulated by May 2014. freakyskull
Hyundai has launched the made in India Grand i10 in Indonesia. The car launched there gets LED DRLs next to the fog lamps and in the interiors there is a touch screen audio system with Navigation, Bluetooth and DVD. The engine also pumps out more power compared to the India version and the car gets adjustable head rests as well Maybe Hyundai should offer this here as well Source
