dr_nishu 198 Report post Posted June 5, 2013 (edited) Maruti Suzuki Swift DZire emerged as the best selling car in India beating even its Swift hatchback sibling as well as smaller & consistent No.1 selling Alto. For the first time it happened in India that any sedan has emerged out as a No.1 selling car across the country beating even the much cheaper & mass selling hatchbacks like Alto, etc. Although it is smaller than 4m length but its a step above the hatchbacks in terms of perception & feel with compact sedan tag. An excerpts from IAB article, "The Dzire sold 17,265 units while the Alto 800 managed 16,411 units. Do the math and it’s clear the Dzire has outsold the Alto by a respectable 854 units. However, sales of the Dzire have dropped by 2.5% when compared year-on-year. Maruti were able to sell 17,707 units of the Dzire in May of 2012. Sales of the Dzire have also dropped from April-May 2013 from 19,446 to 17,265. The Alto has seen sales fall by 20.81% year-on-year. Sales of the small hatch is on a downward trajectory in 2013. 27,356 units were sold in March and this reduced to 19,847 units in April which has further reduced to 16,411". BonFre 0 Report post Posted June 6, 2013 This is due to the fact that the car is now readily available as opposed to 2-3 months waiting earlier. In another couple of months the sales shall stabilize & correct monthly figures shall appear.
Sstar 77 Report post Posted June 6, 2013 And also, people now want feel good factor from their car as well and they dont hesitate (if they have money) to spend some extra for their needs.
livetodrive 17 Report post Posted June 6, 2013 Really well deserved. If I were Maruti, I would make a test drive Amaze available at every Maruti Showroom for the customer to test drive and see for themselves that printing "100" bhp on paper does not make a car fast or refined. The Dzire murders the Amaze when it come to NVH, not to mention the 140 kmph speed limit which will see K10 Altos and Wagon R's fly past you even when you are in the mood to give your some stick. One more thing which is worthy of adding a stain to amaze is the 2000 rpm lock in neutral or when the clutch is pressed in any gear, I MEAN WHY ? Aren't we old enough to know how to rev and when to rev ? Imagine climbing Zozila pass and suddenly realizing that you need to rev dump the clutch for you to go any further and the knight more would be further redefined when you realise you are in a Diesel Amaze. librankur 39 Report post Posted June 6, 2013 Dzire is still doing well because Honda is still not producing enough Amaze to keep up with the demand of the vehicle. 5K units per month is not good enough
Sstar 77 Report post Posted June 7, 2013 (edited) To settle out the battle between these two, we would need to wait for some more time as it is very recent that Dzire is available readily and Amaze is still not par with its demand.
