Spy pics: Hyundai ix25 Compact SUV EDIT: Its the Creta

The overall car design looks amazing. Enough to dent the sales of Duster. Terrano is by far way better looking than the Duster.. but since Nissan is yet to find feet, Hyundai is going to take on Duster, Terrano and the Ecosport by storm.

This is obviously either a Chinese or a Korean version. We're going to get a better interior - some faux wood trim to separate the twin tone interiors. We're going to get lighter seats too I believe. Indians love beige these days..

The infotainment system will be carried over from the i20 Elite. So expect a whole new dash design.

I hope this is not a sub-4 meter car - It really can use some good powerful engines. At least the 1.6 CRDI from the Verna in both the manual and auto variant. Will sure spice up the offerings in this segment.

Its a looker - no doubt.. and its Hyundai... so it will sell...

Hyundai has launched the ix25 compact SUV in China. This car in China comes with two engine options which includes a 1.6 and a 2.0 litre diesel engines. There is also a choice of 2 Wheel as well as 4 wheel drive and 2 wheel drive options. It is priced at 119,800 RMB (around Rs. 12 Lakhs) to 179,800 RMB (around Rs. 18 Lakhs). Will be interesting to see what it is priced at when it comes to India.

The Hyundai ix25 compact SUV underwent its crash test in China recently. Tested under the C-NCAP (China New Car Assessment Program), the ix25 was awarded 5/5 stars. The car was subjected to a total of four tests: 100 percent overlap front crash, side impact, 40 percent overlap front crash and whiplash.

The 100 percent overlap frontal crash test was carried out at a speed of 50 km/h. Out of a maximum possible score of 18, the ix25 scored 15.89 points here.

The side impact test was carried out with a moving deformable barrier traveling at a speed of 50-51 km/h. The center of the barrier is programmed to hit the center line of the car. Based on images, it seems the test car here was the base variant without side or curtain airbags, yet the ix25 scored 18/18 points.

The 40 percent overlap frontal impact test was carried out a speed of 64 km/h, identical to testing procedures of Global NCAP. The ix25 scored 14.11/18 points in this test. Finally, the whiplash test saw the driver’s seat and restraint system perform at a speed of 15.65 km/h, and the ix25 scored a 100 percent score here.

I wonder if it will come as loaded as the Chinese version? Top variant in the pictures doesn't seem to have a sunroof! Also, I think the 4WD system will not be in the offering.
