Hersch
The car definitely looks exciting and its success would be defined by two things - PRICE and time of launch. I am yet to see a truly promising premium product from the country's largest car manufacturer and this car might just change all that. Lets also not forget that the all new Honda City would also be launched next year. Let the exciting times roll!

AMG1
This looks very promising. I am sure Maruti will price it well. I wont be surprised if Maruti prices it a little lower than the segment stalwarts like the Honda City and Hyundai Verna.
scottzinne
I just wish with this car maruti sort of its rattling interiors. hey ertiga owner (atleast 1 year old ). do ertiga rattle like other maruti product.
Prashantroxx
This looks as premium as the competition and if they price it less, it will be a sure vfm product
tejasmehta990
After Ertiga Maruti has another winner. Great Going. This sedan will redefine the way people buys the sedan and it will hot up the C+ Segment.

GuruGautham
Heard rumors that fiat is bringing the 1.6 multijet diesel on the facelifted linea and that it could replace the 1.3 90 bhp one that is currently slated for the car. Also how about releasing the suv version of the new sx4 (sx4 s cross) this time. Will make a great replacement for the grand vitara Here's a pic of the suv version
GuruGautham
The sedan is going t compete with cars like the new honda city, hyundai verna and vw vento all of which have powerful diesel engine whereas the 1.3 ddis has only 90hp. they should bring in the 1.6ddis from fiat
Hersch
The product looks promising but pricing would play a critical role in deciding whether this would be a hit or a miss.
Sstar
The product looks promising but pricing would play a critical role in deciding whether this would be a hit or a miss. I think MSIL has not put any car yet in wrong price bracket (forget about Vitara Or Kizashi as they ae CBU). Everything else is VFM
Shashank_GTO
Yes, pricing will surely play an important role. And i do agree, most of Maruti's vehicle have been VFM! By looking at the pics shared by Sandy and Dr. Nishu, i am pretty sure that the car would be an absolute head turner! But my question is where will Maruti slot this car? Will it compete with the likes of Verna, City and Vento? If so, would it replace the SX4? Or will Maruti introduce this as a Kizashi alternative? Or will it be slotted somewhere below or above the SX4? It will surely be interesting to see what Maruti does with this car!

Or will Maruti introduce this as a Kizashi alternative? Or will it be slotted somewhere below or above the SX4? I think this one should be a parallel offering of MSIL with SX4 and we might see either one would move gradually towards Altis segment and second one may remain in the City segment. dr_nishu
This is going to be a direct rival to New fludic Verna & New Honda City and will probably replace SX4 sedan.
Sstar
This is going to be a direct rival to New fludic Verna & New Honda City and will probably replace SX4 sedan. Probably, SX4 could be a C-SUV or like Mini CrossOver? And the space left over can be taken by this new beauty.

librankur
CIAZ ,This one has always looked a class bigger to me , many conflicting reports online, some even put its pricing close to 12L , dont know why this is being projected to be a SX4 replacement if its going to come at that pricing. Sept Oct launch expected
freakyskull
Here are some leaked pics of the production version of the Maruti Ciaz or YL1 sedan . There pics are from China where the production version of the car is being patented. So this wiil most probably be what the SX4 replacement will look like. The rear reminds me of the new City Source
Jithesh
Maruti is not seen as a premium brand and many of their high end vehicles have failed miserably, like the Vitara and the Kizashi. The mid-size sedan market is buzz with competent players like the City. Although a very competent car and excellent value for money, SX4 sedan was not one that Maruti could call a success. Chinese like the sedan body style and this car would make sense there, but the present Indian market is not promising for a launch like this. But Maruti needs a car like this to complete its line-up and replace the ageing SX4. Its important that this car is priced around 10 lakhs, with the base version starting around 7-8 lakhs. Anything more, and buyers would simply walk away. The story of the Kizashi would be a lesson, as Kizashi is a very capable car but it didn't justify the price tag in India. sachins
The rear reminds me of the new City Exactly !! Maruti is not seen as a premium brand and many of their high end vehicles have failed miserably, like the Vitara and the Kizashi. I agree. YL1 might be a very competent sedan in it's own way but this this time things are very different. Honda already has City in market and Maruti will find it very hard to fight it out with City given Honda's premium image and a better diesel engine. I think Maruti seriously needs to find some alternative to 1.3 MJD engine. This sort of engine might do very well on lower spectrum of cars but when it comes to C2, D+ segments etc, customer expectation is entirely different. Till that is done, i think Maruti will struggle to get a sizeable market share in these segments.
neerajd
Agree Sachin. The diesel needs to be a bigger power plant. They can't use the same 1.3 90 hp version in this car. And if they do need to use it, this car cant be pitched with the brand equity Honda and Hyundai have associated with the City and Verna - add VW to the list with their Vento too.. If its the same 90 hp engine, this car should be sold maybe a couple lacs less than its competition. Anything close to the price tag of either of the other 3 premium cars, customers are going to walk away from it.

rameshbabu.n
CIAZ replaces SX4 in India. SX4 production stopped in April. After the existing stock is cleared, CIAZ will be launched. (source : all business dailies of today )
librankur
The strangest part is that , it is a replacement , which cannot match the original product on price. Based on the 12L pricing many have quoted for the product. How is it a replacement then ?
