2014 Toyota Corolla spotted testing in India

Recommended Posts

The next gen Corolla has begun testing in India. Here are pics of the car in full camo. It appears to have grown in size and seems to be going the Camry way in terms of looks. I just hope it gets a bigger diesel motor

Here are the pics

Looks promising indeed. Infact I think it might look better than the Camry. Though Corollas are boring to drive, they are perfect all rounders and supremely reliable. But I feel the new one will be substantially expensive than the current Altis. I found some more pics of the car testing

Going by the spy pics & images thus constructed, this car interests me now. Lets see how the final on road designs pan out. But if Innovas facelifts are anything to go by, Im not very optimistic!

Wasn't the Corolla design already revealed in some auto-expo earlier this year? The production version looks just like the concept, also looking at pics I see bigger tyres (16'' ??).

In terms of styling, the new Corolla looks much better then the current model!!

The aggressive look might just click with the car buyers.

The design is more Camry like, with a few hints taken from Honda’s Accord, hence giving it that upmarket look!!

Toyota’s best selling car across the globe never made a big impact on Indian roads.

But if Toyota offers a good overall package at the right price, the new Corolla would surely give a stiff competition to cars like the Chevrolet Cruze, Skoda Laura and the new Hyundai Elantra!!

New Toyota Corolla E-Sport variant for Thailand. Looks like a sporty version of the Corolla. I love the black shade and those wheels. Toyota India, please bring this to India as well. I am sure you can! You brought the Etios Cross all the way from Brazil, Thailand is much nearby! :P

Let the pics do the talking

Recently saw the car in flesh and for the first time, I was impressed by the Corolla. It really looks upmarket, stylish and attractive. The dashboard seems inspired by Rolls-Royce models! Nonetheless, the car has grown and seems like more bang for the buck. The price has seemingly taken a flight too, although not official. A sore omission or over sight is the seemingly tiny 1.4 L diesel engine which puts out a meagre 85 BHP. I hope that engine didn't end up in the wrong assembly line! Way too under-powered for this class of car, a bigger engine being more relevant if they are going to increase the prices.

The petrol looks promising, especially in the cool 7 speed auto variant with triptronic and paddle shifts!

The 2014 Corolla Altis gets larger in terms of dimensions. The car offers more space for its occupants while also offering revised interiors and more features than the outgoing model. In terms of the engine options, the 1.8 liter petrol (138 Bhp-173 Nm) and 1.4 liter D-4D turbo diesel (87 Bhp-200 Nm) motors have been carried over unchanged while the petrol motor gets a new CVT automatic gearbox. The petrol engined 2014 Corolla will be sold in five (J(S), G, G-CVT, GL and VL) variants while the diesel engined model will see four (J, J(S), G and GL) variants. The 1.8 liter VVT petrol engined variant will get 3 variants (J(S), G and GL) with a 6 speed manual gearbox while 2 variants (G-CVT and VL) will be equipped with the CVT automatic gearbox with 7 stepped shifts.

All four diesel engined variants make do with a 6 speed manual gearbox. The diesel variants of the Corolla Altis are likely to start at 14 lakh rupees, making the all-new Corolla about 1.2 lakh rupees more expensive than the outgoing version of the car, whose diesel variants started at 12.8 lakh rupees. The top end variants of the Corolla bring in the following prominent features to the equation:

  • Twin Airbags
  • ABS+EBD
  • Cruise Control
  • Revised alloy wheel design
  • Automatic LED headlamps
  • 8 way, power adjustable driver seat
  • Leather seats
  • Rain sensing wipers
  • Satellite navigation
  • Push button start
  • Keyless entry
  • Touch screen based infotainment system
