freakyskull 66 Report post Posted September 18, 2013 Maruti seems to have started testing the next A-Star in India. Though one cant make out too many details, its looks bigger than the current car. The front certainly looks better from what I make out from the pic. Also notice the prominent Haryana reg plate. Pic source

dr_nishu 198 Report post Posted September 19, 2013 800cc Diesel engine seems to be too small for car of this size & segment, considering how 1.0 litre 3-cylinder diesel MjD/TCDi behaves in Beat D. For this maruti either the engine will suffer from low bhp/PS figures or considerable Turbo lag. 1.0 litre or 1.1 should be an appropriate figure for Diesel engine to be used in entry level hatchbacks like these. UVian 3 Report post Posted September 24, 2013 The back profile isn't looking that interesting. Appears to be average in terms of overall looks (my initial feeling) People would really love to see a stunning design for once on a Maruti car. With Grand i 10 diesel coming in , this car will have to fight to create a niche for itself in crowded mid hatchback segment.

GuruGautham 2 Report post Posted October 17, 2013 the facelift will be of little consequence if they dont improve the rear seat space since competitiors like the grand i10 and micra active are much more spacious Also suzuki does nt have its owwn diesel engine and the fiat multijet wuld be simply too large for the a-star, so a diesel model is unlikely
Sstar 77 Report post Posted October 22, 2013 This is again an amalgamation of more than one design. However, by going through this design it seems like MSIL is planning to introduce it between Alto and wagon-r series. so this should be slightly low in pricing too w.r.t. wagon-r. dr_nishu 198 Report post Posted December 1, 2013 A concept car undergoing rigorous on-road thorough testing as a full production mule even before its unveiling ! wow indeed a great thing from India's no.1 car manufacturer indicating their way ahead approach in designing & fastly realizing the concept into production cars. Hope this design won't lose too much of it while melting itself into production car.
tejasmehta990 4 Report post Posted December 2, 2013 After launch of Ertiga Maruti seems to be improving a lot on it's design especially the front i.e. Nose design. The A-Wind's front looks impressive and boasts an aggressive stance. From side one may mistake it with Honda Brio. Overall A-Wind looks impressive and will attract buyers under semi-premium hatch segment.
Sstar 77 Report post Posted December 2, 2013 This is indeed a welcome step by MSIL. How oftern do we see a concept-to-production journey so fast or opposite? This design is very well curved and balanced, but the key to success of this car would be to see its interior space. Point to keep it in consideration is that Estilo is no longer in production and wagon-r is into 4 L bracket these days. So MSIL has this 3.30L to 4L bracket open to play with. bhpcrazy 5 Report post Posted January 2, 2014 Came across these undisguised pictures of the A-Star replacement online. The car will be called the Celerio in our market. From the pics it looks like an ad shoot Pics Source: Motoroids
dr_nishu 198 Report post Posted January 2, 2014 This car isn't made in a cost cutting way but it will definitely offer a bit more than Datsun Go in many areas. This car can seriously spoil the party of Datsun Go by offering all the same in a more fuel efficient, refined way, while offering Maruti's peace of mind. motorj3di 1 Report post Posted January 3, 2014 Wow, it looks even less interesting than I thought it would. And that's not saying much.
rameshbabu.n 6 Report post Posted January 3, 2014 This car certainly is taller. See the car's height when compared to an Esteem car in one of the spy shots. But, when compared to a Wagon-R, it is shorter. That's good news for people looking for good headroom and shoulder space in a proper hatch (and not in a box shape). Anyway, they need a replacement for their two discontinued models. A-Star and Zen Estillo. As it always happens with any MS product, this too will get the required numbers. That's good news for MS. More so, when the market is down and every firm is struggling to sell more.
dr_nishu 198 Report post Posted January 11, 2014 Maruti Suzuki Celerio spotted undisguised: Motorbeam spotted Celerio hatchback and posted details as, The soon to be launched Maruti Suzuki Celerio (codenamed YL7) has been caught undisguised in ZXi trim at the Buddh International Circuit. In terms of styling, the Maruti Celerio looks confident with its new design language derived from the Suzuki A-Wind Concept. The front fascia of the Maruti Celerio reveals a broad stance with a swept back design tone. The brawny wrap-around headlamps are neatly connected with two slats of chrome on the grille and there is a separate circular fog lamp housing up front. The side profile consists of a strong shoulder line emerging from the front fender that rises up to the hip of the Celerio. Another crease runs below to give the Maruti Celerio a good presence. The Maruti Celerio’s rear profile hints of the Maruti Alto 800 and somewhat Hyundai i20 with its tail lamps. The rear bumper is big and chunky and you can notice a roof integrated rear spoiler. Other noticeable bits are the 6-spoke alloy wheels and rear view mirror integrated blinkers. Expect the interiors to be roomy and fresh, having light colour trims. The Maruti Suzuki Celerio will be offered with the 1.0-litre K10 petrol engine initially. This engine produces 67 BHP of maximum power with 90 Nm of peak torque, mated to a 5-speed manual transmission. The car will rival the Hyundai Grand i10. Maruti Suzuki will also introduce an automatic manual transmission system with the Celerio, which is a clutch-less transmission that reduces stress while driving in congested traffic conditions and returns good fuel efficiency. The Maruti Celerio will also be offered with a new diesel engine that will be launched by the end of this year. It will be a 800cc, 2-cylinder unit. Maruti Suzuki will launch the Celerio at the 2014 Auto Expo and deliveries are expected to commence soon after the launch. The expected on-road Mumbai price of the Maruti Celerio is in the range of Rs. 4.60 – 5.95 lakhs for the petrol variants. Source: motorbeam.com
speeddemon1227 0 Report post Posted January 12, 2014 caught celerio shooting in pune's magarpatta city...doesnt look very attractive though...but still much much better than the current A Star...
dr_nishu 198 Report post Posted January 12, 2014 Nice curvy looks & decent equipment seems to be on offer on its top-end variant shown above. Slightly simpler & less curvy design than Swift, means it might retain its charm longer with its owners.
Sstar 77 Report post Posted January 13, 2014 Design is definitely the key here with a mature looking stance, this car is surely going to sell better than Estilo & A-Star combined. By lanuching this car, Maruti is also trying to portray that the Grand i10 which Hyundai says is real Swift competition - is no where close to swift but close to A-Star. So for Maruti, they will project this car infront of Grand i10 and try to communicate that this is a good alternative rather than going to competitor. rameshbabu.n 6 Report post Posted January 24, 2014 Celerio: Maruti reveals A-Star replacement; to be showcased at Auto Expo Maruti Suzuki has announced that bookings for the Celerio are open. The vehicle is to be launched at the 2014 Auto Expo that begins on February 5. The Celerio has what Maruti terms 'EZ Drive' (an Automated Manual Transmission), variants of which return 23.1 kilometre per litre in the ARAI mileage test. Through a webpage, Maruti has revealed a few parts of the car's exterior and interior. From the promotional material, one can see a a Bluetooth-enabled audio system, steering-mounted controls for audio, manual aircon, 235-litre boot space, five-speed manual transmission option, fixed headrests for the front seats, map pocket on the co-driver seat back, dual tone interior and blinkers on door mirrors. The Celerio was represented in the concept form last year at the Thai Motor Expo by the Suzuki A:Wind. It is the global replacement to the Alto (A-Star in India) but would keep the 1.0-litre K Series three-cylinder engine producing a maximum power output of 67 bhp and 90 Nm of peak torque.
